Tasks#

As a part of our team you will help us deliver applications and systems that bring value and positive impact into users' lives. You will work on projects that span platforms (iOS, Android, and web) and combine very different disciplines and domain knowledge (fault-tolerant and real-time systems, public transportation, project management through asynchronous communications, and spatial and location-aware databases). You will work on existing products like Tomatiq ↗, as well as on new products.

Remote#

This position is fully remote, but you need to live in Spain to be hired.

Additionally, if you would like to join us for a coding session or prefer to stay among other people when working, we would be glad to accommodate you at our premises in Bilbao or in Stockholm.

You can work with us from Granada without any need to travel or to relocate.

Granada is affordable#

With about 234000 inhabitants, Granada is not as big as Madrid or Barcelona, but it is much more affordable!

As of today, it is possible to rent an apartment in the very center of Granada for about €750 €/month.

Granada has everything for a balanced and enjoyable life: public schools and hospitals, supermarkets (Mercadona, Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi, Dia, Covirán), parks, restaurants and bars, sports and fitness facilities (Palacio Municipal de Deportes, Complejo Deportivo Núñez Blanca, Polideportivo Bola de Oro, VivaGym Granada, Basic-Fit Granada, Synergym Granada, McFIT Granada), and trekking routes nearby (Ruta de los Cahorros de Monachil, Dehesa del Generalife, Llano de la Perdiz).

And if you ever need to visit Málaga, it's just 126 km by car.

21,000 - 27,000 € (12 or 14 payments)

Additional Compensation Program#

Occupational pension#

In addition to mandatory social security contributions, for individuals working with the company for more than 3 years we are willing to contribute to your additional pension up to the maximal annual statutory amount of 10,000 € (Basque EPSV ↗ or Employment pension plans ↗).

Profit-Sharing Program#

For individuals working with the company for more than 3 years we have a profit sharing program. The exact percentage of the profits paid as a bonus depends on seniority and performance.

Requirements#

Self-directed and autonomous systems-thinking engineer#

We are not looking for a specific "profile" with a knowledge of a certain language or a framework. Although we do require the knowledge of Elixir and Phoenix, this is not an Elixir developer position.

As we work on novel products, the best fit for our team are individuals who can use systems thinking to find, assess and learn the best tool for each task, be it a programming language, a new paradigm, or a framework.

Today we might be working on a Phoenix LiveView app but tomorrow we could discover that adding a native mobile app to it would be beneficial (for the company, the product and/or the users). We would expect that you can self-direct your learning, adapt your skills and use your systems-thinking approach to implement such an app by yourself.

Therefore, even if you don't have any knowledge of Elixir or Phoenix LiveView as of now, you can demonstrate that you are a capable self-learner by completing the required (free) courses before applying for this position.

Professional Qualifications Certificate#

You shall be able to provide a certificate that confirms your knowledge of computer science and programming fundamentals such as data structures, encapsulation, resource management, security, software engineering, and web development.

You can do this with a graduation certificate from your school (Intermediate/Higher Vocational Training), university (Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree) or an online course (we recommend this free course ↗).

Test Task Videocast#

Task Description#

1. Please record a 5-15 min video of yourself implementing the Software Component by writing code by hand and then demonstrating the working prototype.
2. In the video please share the screen with relevant windows (IDE/terminal/tests if applicable) and comment with your own voice while you are implementing the task.

Task Requirements#

1. Writing some code and making preparations before recording the video is allowed.
2. Using AI agents, LLMs and AI-powered autocomplete is not allowed.
3. The implemented functionality shall be covered with unit tests and the successful implementation and passing of tests shall be demonstrated.
4. Recording the face (webcam view) is NOT required.
5. The following is optional, but welcome:
   1. Before actually writing code in the video, start the video with explaining the software architecture and software patterns that you are going to use.
   2. Using Behavior-Driven Development and Test-Driven Development to implement the Software Component.

General Specifications#

1. The task is to implement a Software Component with Features (described below).
2. Essentially, this is a software that reads some public transport information from a static GTFS ↗ dataset and then uses it in the application to demonstrate to the user.
3. Depending on your preferences, you can elect to implement the Software Component in Elixir (Elixir and Phoenix) OR in Kotlin & Android (the most advanced level requires to use both technologies).
4. Please use one hard-coded bus stop location (Target Stop); you can pick any bus stop located around this location: Plaza Elíptica de Bilbao ↗.
5. You can use any transport operator (Bilbobus or Bizkaibus) for the input GTFS data ↗.
